Attorney General Hon. Allyson Maynard Gibson on Online Company Formation

Attorney General and Minister of Legal Affairs, Senator The Hon. Z.C. Allyson Maynard Gibson and Trident Trust representative Yolanda Coakley discussed the launch of Online Company Formation on Bahamas at Sunrise during the week of December 14th.

On January 5th, 2016, Government of The Bahamas will unveil the ability to incorporate companies entirely online. From name, reservation, all the way through to certificate of incorporation.

“You’ll be able to do real-time business in terms of getting your certificate of good standing, etc.” stated the Attorney General, “We are promising delivery within 48 hours.  We are also noting that The Bahamas is the only country in the world, the only jurisdiction in the world where it can be done entirely online.”

Yoland Coakley of Trident Trust, a financial services provider commented, “…it’s going to change the way we do business and change the way that we’re able to promise services to our clients. And just increase the amount of business for the jurisdiction, which is always a good thing as well. So it’s good for the public sector as well as the private sector obviously.”

The Attorney General emphasized the impact this would have on young persons and persons on all islands in The Bahamas: “I really want for all of our young people to note, and others as well in the Family Islands, that you will be able to do business directly with the registry from where you are, wherever you are in The Bahamas….this really enhances their capacity to compete in the 21st century.”

The Online Company Formation is part of the Government’s commitment to improve the ease in which businesses are able to operate in The Bahamas – a key part of building a Stronger Bahamas.
